Sakura Factory Building No.2 completed

At our Sakura Factory in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture, we have been constructing the “Sakura Factory Building No.2” on the premises since February 2023. Upon completion, a completion ceremony was held on February 9th. Operations will begin gradually from March.

Our company has been operating the Sakura Factory since 1986 as a production base for semiconductor test sockets and connectors. We have recently constructed a building No.2 with the aim of providing a stable supply of semiconductor test sockets due to the expanding global demand for semiconductors, and speedily responding to the diversifying customer needs of connector solutions.

The first floor is the press area, and the second floor is the plating area, and the layout allows for efficient production flow, from loading materials to pressing, cleaning, heat treatment, plating, and packaging.

Sakura Factory Building No.2 Overview

Location: 1-4-1 Osaku, Sakura-shi, Chiba 285-0802, JAPAN

Structure: Steel frame, 2 stories above ground

Site area: 52,327㎡

Building area: 3,121㎡

Total floor area: 5,550㎡

Application: Parts production (pressing/plating)

Total investment: Approximately 1.5 billion yen

Construction period: February 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024

Completion date: January 31, 2024

Eco-friendly production base

Building No.2 achieved the highest rank on a 5-level evaluation in the Building Energy-efficiency Labeling System (BELS*1) and received the ZEB*2 Ready certification. Equipped with highly insulated outer shell and highly efficient energy saving equipment.

Energy saving equipment

  • Exterior wall materials

Adopts a composite product of phenolic resin exterior wall material, which has excellent heat insulation and fire resistance, and gypsum board.

  • Office area window

Adopts windows with improved insulation by securing 12 mm of air space compared to the usual 6 mm.

  • Charging equipment for passenger EVs

Adopts a power regeneration system that returns energy that would normally be discarded as heat to the power source for reuse.

  • electrical equipment

Adopts electrical equipment that adjusts the light to match the outdoor brightness and saves energy.

Solar power generation system using NAS batteries

We plan to install 580 solar panels (panel power generation: approximately 333.5kW) on the roof of the building No.2. The energy management system, which uses solar panels and NAS batteries*3, is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 190 tons per year compared to when purchasing electricity from a power company.

*1 BELS:BELS stands for Building-Housing Energy-efficiency Labeling System. This is an indication system for the energy efficiency performance of buildings, which was started in 2014 by the Association for Housing Performance Evaluation and Labeling. A BEI (Energy Saving Performance Index) value is calculated, and a 5-star rating is given based on that value. Furthermore, buildings with excellent energy-saving performance are certified as ZEB.

*2 ZEB:ZEB stands for Net Zero Energy Building. It is a building that aims to achieve zero energy balance by introducing renewable energy after reducing primary energy consumption through energy-saving measures. Among the definitions, “ZEB Ready” refers to buildings that have reduced standard primary energy consumption by 50% or more through energy conservation.

*3 The NAS battery: The system was developed as a means of resolving the disparity in electricity demand between day and night, and can store and discharge electricity.
